To develop quality disciples out of our children by bringing to bear the power of God's Word taught according to their age group. The African-American perspective in history and worship is presented using relevant and appealing curriculum.

T.E.E.N. (Teens Entering Excellence Now) |
To aid teenagers in reaching a level of spriritual knowledge and Godly confidence to enable them to disciple and minister to their peers. To instruct every teen at JOY that the R.E.A.L. vision of (Responsibility, Excellence, Accountability, Liberation) is the goal of this ministry.

Youth Activities |
To guide our youth to Christian maturity utilizing recreation, visual and performing arts and social activities. These activities and social functions demonstrate that having a relationship with God includes time for laughter and fellowship.

F.A.M.E. (Families Are Meaningful Experiences) |
To promote family unity through weekly activities that promote spiritual growth through fellowship and recreation.

Adult Teaching |
To provide opportunities for adults to grow and develop spiritually through directed Bible study and discussions of practical applications of God's Word. This will be accomplished using a variety of formats such as:
"Discover the JOY" - New Member's Training;
"Brown Bag" Bible Study - Wednesday lunch hour weekly fellowship;
Pulpit Ministry Team (P.M.T.) - Training and developing in public ministry gifts;
Pastor's Bible Study - An opportunity for deeper exploration of biblical studies

Member Services |
To provide information and direction to all JOY members regarding participation in the different auxiliary organizations within the Church. To provide pertinent information about community activities, community service, and external JOY activities.

Sanctuary Servants |
To prepare the sanctuary for worship by greeting the congregation and guests with a smile and encouraging word! To perform any task necessary to maintain decency and order in the worship service is the motto of this ministry!
|
Guest Services |
To be a point of contact to meet the needs of our guests, and to be the umbrella for other ministries providing service to visitors such as Altar, Sanctuary Servants, Health, Hospitality, Armor Bearers, Security and Transportation ministries.

Hospitality |
To make all visitors and members feel welcome. To greet all guests who visit the door of JOY at worship times. Show God's love to our members at special times (i.e. weddings, anniversaries and funerals).
|
Seasoned Citizens |
This ministry to JOY members (65 years and older) is for fellowship, recreation and the opportunity to invest in other seniors in the wider community.

Health Ministry |
To provide preventative education and assistance in first aid and health services that will benefit the JOY membership and our surrounding community. Activities sponsored by this ministry will include Health Fairs and seminars on nutrition, diet and exercise, as well as programs aimed at spiritual, physical and mental well being.

Early Childhood Development |
To provide a spiritual and wholesome environment with age appropriate nurturing and care (newborns to 5 years old).

Ordinances |
To provide the Lord's Supper and Water Baptism support services.
|
Altar Ministries |
To welcome new members into the ministry and assist them in filling out new converts forms. Provide New Members Training ("Discover The JOY") booklets. Remain in thirty (30) day contact for purposes of encouragement and retention.

Young Adult Ministries |
To assist young adults in living the victorious life God has called them to through developing spiritual discipline and an attitude of wholesomeness.

Mighty Men of JOY |
To establish men in the forefront position through leading by example in all areas of ministry. Involvement in community related outreach, personal development, fellowship outings, Bible study and prayer.

Women of JOY |
To help Christian women experience victorious living while confronting the "cares of life". To assist Christian women in developing holistic lifestyles that integrate church, family, occupation and community with the Kingdom agenda.

E.S.P. (Empowered Single Parents) |
To help single parents live a victorious and wholesome life while facing the awesome task of single parenting. To help them develop their children and themselves spiritually, physically and emotionally. Areas to be addressed by this ministry include parenting skills, relationships with your children, financial security and health concerns.

Married for Life |
To develop an innovative and biblically centered ministry to married couples. To assist the Christian couple in developing lifestyles that integrate church and family with the Kingdom agenda. To provide an opportunity for married couples to experience God's deliverance in their lives through teaching, mentoring and fellowship.

Visitation Ministry |
To visit members who are sick or shut in.

Music Ministry |
To prepare the hearts of the worshipping congregation to receive the Word of God. To provide the necessary vehicles to enable those people who are unfamiliar or uncomfortable with the lifestyle of Praise and Worship the opportunity to grow in this vital area of discipleship.

J.A.M. (JOY Arts Ministry) |
To visually illustrate the Gospel through plays, "stepping", dance, and video mediums.

Sound Team |
To facilitate the best possible reproduction of sound for the worshipping congregation.

Gift of JOY |
To provide food and clothing for the needy throughout the year, especially during the Thanksgiving and Christmas season.

Media (Radio / Television) |
To promote the teaching and preaching ministry of Dr. Michael P. Williams through audio and video recordings as well as written publications.

J.COM (JOY Campus Outreach Ministry) |
To influence the leaders of the 21st Century to establish a bold, effective personal relationship with Christ with relevant Bible teaching that addresses the needs of college aged youth.

Evangelism and Prayer |
To evangelize by taking the Gospel message to the community surrounding JOY Baptist Tabernacle. To help lead our ministry in intercessory or corporate prayer at times designated by Pastor.

Security |
To provide protection and security for Pastor Williams, his family, the congregation and all church facilities.

Transportation |
To facilitate transportation services to and from JOY Baptist Tabernacle for elderly or disabled members who need this service.

Parking |
To provide parking directions and assistance to JOY Baptist Tabernacle members and visitors during worship services and other JOY events.
